Day 1:
Arrivée à Avignon
No cycling stage for this day
Avignon, jewel of the south of France, opens the doors to Provence.
Dominated by the imposing Palace of the Popes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city immerses you in the heart of the Middle Ages, where architectural grandeur meets fascinating stories. Not far away, the mythical Saint-Bénézet Bridge, better known as the Pont d’Avignon — offers a breathtaking view of the Rhône and a beautiful romantic interlude. Let yourself be charmed by the cobbled streets of the historic center, where every turn reveals hidden treasures: artisans’ workshops, local boutiques, shaded little squares, and delightful cafés. In summer, the city comes alive with performing arts during the Avignon Festival, an unmissable event that brings together theatre and culture enthusiasts from all over the world.
You will arrive in the middle of the afternoon and settle comfortably into your hotel. In the evening, take time to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the City of the Popes, freely exploring at your own pace.

Day 2:
Avignon - Saint Rémy de Provence
Bike : 35km / 198 m D+
You leave Avignon in the early morning, leaving behind its ramparts bathed in light. Very quickly, the urban bustle fades away, replaced by the tranquility of small roads winding between vineyards, olive trees, and breathtaking landscapes. Provence opens its arms to you, authentic and enchanting: traditional mas with honey-colored stones, elegant cypresses pointing toward the sky, and the scent of lavender and wild herbs floating in the morning air.
Your route leads you to Barbentane, a perched gem with medieval lanes overlooking the Rhône plain. Already, in the distance, the Alpilles appear, a promise of new horizons and magnificent panoramas. In Graveson, a coffee under the plane trees offers a welcome break before the final stretch. Orchards and olive groves accompany your last kilometers, bathed in sunlight and punctuated by the song of cicadas. Then appears Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, nestled at the foot of the hills, with its cobbled streets and timeless charm.
Dinner on your own and overnight in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
Suggestion: It is possible to add an extra night in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in order to enjoy a day in a mas in the lovely village of Les Baux-de-Provence, including a wine tasting and cellar visit.
Do not miss, in Les Baux-de-Provence, the breathtaking visit of the Carrières des Lumières. -

At the top, you discover a breathtaking panorama over the valley and the surrounding hills. A stop in the citadel of Les Baux is a must to admire its medieval heritage and the spectacular views over the valley, a timeless moment between sky and stone. The stage would not be complete without a visit to the Carrières de Lumières, this unique site where the stone walls are illuminated by immersive artistic projections. The descent towards Maussane-les-Alpilles unfolds endless olive groves and sun-drenched landscapes. Then the plain gradually opens up, announcing the contrast of the Camargue horizons. The wide open spaces of the Camargue are calling you. Arles appears, vibrant with its Roman heritage and southern atmosphere.

Around a bend, the first white horses appear, free, proud, almost unreal, as if emerging from a dream. A little further on, pink flamingos raise their slender silhouettes, adding a touch of magic to this already striking scenery. The air is filled with salty scents and the aroma of samphire, typical of this wild land. The sea breeze accompanies your pedal strokes, giving this stage a taste of freedom. Small hamlets and gardian huts punctuate the journey, witnesses of traditional Camargue life. Gradually, the vast salt plains unfold, dazzling white under the sun. Salin-de-Giraud then appears, a unique village in the heart of the salt marshes, both authentic and full of character.

Salin de Giraud - Les Saintes Maries de la Mer
Vélo : 42 km / 61 m D+
From Salin-de-Giraud, you venture deeper into an even wilder Camargue, where the road seems to blend into the horizon. Heading towards Tourvieille, the landscapes become mineral and almost unreal, with vast salt flats shimmering in changing hues.
The Fangassier lagoon opensin front of you, an emblematic site where pink flamingos nest, offering a truly unique spectacle. Here, the silence is broken only by the cries of birds and the whisper of the sea breeze. The vast white plains evoke the salt deserts of South America, giving your journey an otherworldly feeling. On either side, the sea slips into the landscape, creating a striking impression of the ends of the earth. Your bicycle becomes the perfect companion for gliding through this luminous immensity. At every turn, the wild fauna surprises you: herons, avocets, and ducks frolic in the lagoons. Then, in the distance, appear the white rooftops of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, nestled between sky and sea. You end the day in this legendary village, the beating heart of Camargue culture, filled with spirit, tradition, and endless horizons.
